I’ve found that most health complaints have much to do with a poor lifestyle … so to improve our wellbeing we need to enhance our lifestyle.
Living a Happier Life
Mostly, a poor lifestyle is just the result of a lack of ‘self-awareness’. Hence, this may than have a negative impact on our ‘self-care, self-development & self-empowerment’. Simply to improve our well-being we need to enhance our awareness. Then we may be more open to ways of improving our life.
Contrary to what’s so often thought, happiness isn’t so much about a goal to be attained. More-so it’s about enjoying each step of the journey. Many people initially think that happiness comes from living the ‘high-life’ with lots of travel, luxury accommodation, flash cars, exuberant entertainment and so on. To the contrary, one can be very happy with an appreciation of just the basics of life.
Difference Between Counselling and Life Coaching
Usually, people go to a counsellor when they have a specific problem. Maybe it’s a particular conflict, confusion, overwhelm, etc. to be resolved. Hence, counselling is usually more about a short-term process to help an individual resolve these specific issues. On the other hand, life-coaching can be beneficial for us, even if we don’t have a specified problem. It’s mostly for those who are open to being coached in ways that can help to improve the quality of their life.
Life coaching may often include some counselling and visa versa, counselling may also include some life-coaching content. However, it’s the overall objective that really sets the two different modalities apart. Both may help guide clients to reach their goals. However, a life coach typically employs a more ‘holistic’ approach in helping individuals, over a longer period of time in addressing different areas of their life.
What’s Life Coaching Involve?
Life coaching is essentially a client-centered process. As each human being is different, so will their goals. Ideally, life-coaching would be as individual as each individual with the program being tailored around their goals. Generally with life coaching there is a focus on self-discovery, goal setting, personal growth and strategies towards goal attainment. As such, a life coach usually helps an individual to identify their strengths, values, and aspirations. Also, help with guiding them in creating actionable plans to achieve their set outcomes.
Life coaching is a great way of managing a path in achieving greater fulfillment in life. It’s about cultivating enhanced self-awareness, with identifying our passion and purpose . It’s also about pursuing ways of achieving success in our chosen path. Enhanced self awareness and self development can help with cultivating enhanced self-care and empowerment.
What’s in my Next-Step?
Life coaching may not necessarily be for everyone. If you can honestly say that you are 100% happy where you are and that there’s no room for improvement, then life-coaching is probably not for you. However, if you are aware that there are areas of your life that could be improved, then taking the next step forward with life coaching could open up a whole new world for you.
