The masses again celebrate with overindulging in Easter eggs and seafood. Yet so many people confess that they are confused with the true meaning of Easter.
Research tells us that Easter most likely had Pagan origins. It seems that it originated from the name of an ancient Pagan Goddess of fertility, ‘Eostre’. She was a Goddess of the Saxon people in Northern Europe. Her name was said to have been derived from the ancient word for spring. Spring represents the sunrise time of the day. Sunrise became ‘ostern’ in German. This may be the origin of the word ‘Easter’
Each year I hold a celebration at the Equinox. Those who attended this year enjoyed sharing the significance of this special event.
