Stress is generally considered to be the underlying cause of most of our problems. However, we may ask, what is it, what causes it and how can we manage it? As Dr Serge Doublet, Ph.D. says in his book; ’The Stress Myth’, it wasn’t till the 1950s that stress was adopted as a medical term. Before then, no one spoke of stress. It wasn’t considered as a problem. Yet after Dr Selye introduced the notion, increasingly, everyone started complaining about it.
The Stress Myth
‘Stress’ is a ‘nominalisation’ or ‘fuzzy’ noun. It’s just an excuse. It’s merely the symptoms we experience as a result of resistance. The key is to learn how to be more responsible for how we deal with things. To handle this we need to change our perception and enhance our ability to adapt to the many and varied circumstances in our life.
Stress Management
Nowadays, in our fast paced world, it’s more important than ever to lean the skills of managing how we can better respond to various situations in our life. Holistic stress management is about learning how to transform unconscious reactions to more conscious responses. From this we may develop solutions to transform stress into greater success.
