Fathers Day wishes

To-day many Australians honour Father’s Day, being the first Sunday of September. It is a day to show appreciation for  the contribution of fathers and father figures, which may include stepfathers, fathers-in-law, guardians (eg. foster parents), and family friends, etc.  … make to their families, childrens’, offspring  lives.

There are suggestions that Father’s Day may have originated in pagan sun worship. Some branches of paganism see the sun as the father of the universe. The ‘father who is in heaven’ … the sun is the male driving life force’. Hence Father’s Day in some northern hemisphere countries is close to the summer solstice.
