Winter is considered traditionally as the season of rejuvenation. As the sun lowers, the days become shorter and colder, it’s the season to slow down, go within, for internal reflection and focus more on self-care.
Aligning Our Bio-rhythms
As we observe nature, we may also acknowledge her cycles within us. As we re-connect with our innate bio-rhythms, we also become more nurtured by nature.
We all have internal biological cycles that resonate with other environmental frequencies. As we realign with the cycles of nature, we may become a clearer reflection of our true nature of who we truly are. We may say, simply, the closer to nature, that we are, the easier it is for us to heal.
BOOST Your JING!
Modern Western Science and Traditional Oriental Medicine are different in so many ways. The ancient eastern wisdom has been so misunderstood by the western medicine. From an eastern medicine perspective, winter is the season to boost our jing’. This may be described as our deep, primal, foundational energy reserves of the body. It may be likened to how much wax is left on the candle for it to burn, or how much water is left in the well for the village to survive.
Recharge Your Batteries
Only now, are more western practitioners starting to combine the ancient wisdom of TOM with the technological advances of MWS. It’s well know in TOM that our ‘jing’ is held within our Kidneys. It’s energy largely determines the quality and length of our life.
The MWS translation of ‘jing’ is simply our ‘vitality’. We know that if we’re feeling run down, tired and exhausted, for too long, we’re likely to suffer various ongoing aches and pain, battle frequent recurring illnesses, be more vulnerable to stress, fatigue and so on. Hence, having good ‘jing or vitality’, is so important to support our wellbeing.
Bio-Energetics
‘Bioenergetics’ is basically about ways of enhancing our ‘life-energy’. The foundational principals in the west were developed back in the 1950’s by various doctors. There’s many different aspects of this ‘holistic’ approach. However, so much of these discoveries align with ancient Traditional Oriental Medicine wisdom.
Bio-Energetic Assessment
In TOM, the dynamic relationship between our various organs is important for our overall wellbeing. However, sometimes for various reasons, some organs may be out of balance, either being in excess or deficient. There can be many various signs and symptoms of imbalances. However, a ‘Bio-energetic Assessment’ may help to identify more specific underlying causes. As an example, an excessive loss of kidney Jing can affect the whole body, but more specifically with symptoms such as lower back pain, weak knees, signs of premature aging, with grey hair, poor teeth, loss of memory, and so on. In this case, ideally, we need to identify and deal with the underlying causes of our ‘Leaking Jing’. Here, I discuss more about the ability to measure and balance specific related acu-points on our body.
Electro-Dermal Screening
EDS is a computerised way to provide a ‘Meridian Stress Assessment’ and then, with instant ‘bio-feed-back’ to scan a digital database to access remedies to balance the specific acupoints and their correspondences. This more modern, ‘electroacupuncture’ approach to ‘Traditional Oriental Medicine’ may be likened to the benefits of acupuncture, yet without the need to insert needles.
Basically, the MWS perspective of EDS acknowledges that it measures skin electrical activity, with ‘galvanic responses’ along fascial lines, to assess various meridian ‘stresses’. With this result, various ‘vibrational remedies’ including classical homeopathics and more can be scanned and imprinted to help with balancing these acu-points.
Bio-Energetic Counselling
Bio-energetic counseling is so different to the classical western, modern day, cognitive approach of just talking. It embraces multi-sub-modalities, with an emphasis on a holistic approach, promoting primarily the interconnectedness of the mind and body. It may be seen as an exploration into how our various physical imbalances, either tensions or restrictions can both reflect and influence our various mental and emotional states. It’s about gaining greater awareness, interconnectedness, and hence better physical, mental and emotional well-being.
Rather than us just being a victim of circumstances, this bio-energetic process can help to promote our adaptability, resilience, to restore our own inner balance. Bio-energetic counselling supports the philosophy that our physical body may hold a record of our past experiences. However, it’s so often, our unresolved issues, and maybe inappropriate emotional responses, and so on that may stay stuck as blockages and hence physical tension. This may be seen as a key to balancing our mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
As a ‘holistic’ approach, bioenergetic counselling may embrace a synthesis of various sub-modalities. It may typically involves a combination of verbal work, body work, and exercises. As an example, such as ‘Inner-self Dialoguing’, breathwork, acu-points, somatic work, and so on. It’s about promoting integrity and energetic balance. It’s very much about ‘harmonising the elements’, as much it may be considered as both a physical and spiritual practice.
Your Next Step
My approach to ‘bio-energetics’, integrating both east and west, focuses on an inner, more subjective experience with an inner awareness as a way of appreciating more about our self and our connection with the world. The emphasis is on discovering ways of realising our potential.
As the first step, I recommend a ‘Bio-Energetic Assessment’ with ‘Electro-Dermal Screening’. Then, based upon your assessment, focused on your individual challenges, and factors such as the season, environment, etc. to embark upon a private ‘Bio-energetic counseling’ session. I suggest to look at it as a great adventure of self discovery.

Orthodox medical practitioners advise that ‘Bio-energetics’ and ‘EDS’ should not be used as a replacement for conventional allergy testing or medical conditions. It’s suggested that if you have concerns about allergies or need other ‘medical’ attention, you should consult with a qualified ‘medical’ professional.
